One of the few sunny days in May

One of the few sunny days in May while I was getting the veggie garden ready to plant....the sprinkler was turned on for the kids and Tenley. Alec loves water and was in 7th heaven, screaming in glee and getting totally soaked. Haven a little less sure of it. Our friend Greg was over and helped Alec get wet.

My favorite things

Our children have been home for eight months now. Hard to believe it has been that long. In our time together as a family somethings my sweeties do have become my favorite things in my day.
Waking up to the sound of them laughing at each other in the morning. So much nicer than waking up to an alarm clock or screaming.
Love, love, love how they say hug when they give you a hug.
Their love of books and the simple joy it brings to them to have a book read to them...over and over and over again.
How much they love their Daddy. Their level of excitement when Naing comes home is contagious.
Snuggles!!
Watching them throw the ball and interact with Tenley. Too cute.
But my most favorite thing is how excited they get when I come back from being away from them. Fills my heart with joy.

What a wonderful weekend.

Saturday the sun came back out to greet us. Yeah!!! We have been experiencing a little cold spell here in the PNW. It was getting down to freezing at night and that is not the norm for May. I have been itching to get my hands in the dirt and start planting and on Sat we started the process of weeding the vegetable garden.
Since we brought Alec and Haven home in Sept last year, I did not have time to properly winter the garden and it is a MESS! But we are making some progress in hopes of planting next week.

To top the day off on Saturday we went with friends to the Ethiopian Orphan Relief Chairty Auction. It was so much fun and everyone was so generous in their donations. In 10 minutes $19,000 was raised to feed 100 girls daily that live in a house EOR rents for them. These children have lost both their parents to the AIDS epidemic and have no one to care for them. This group of wonderful people that are some how connected to adopting from Ethiopia and helped make the Board's dream come true of surpassing last year's donations.

We bid on two lovely pictures that were drawn by children from Toukoul(the same orphanage our children come from). They are so sweet and I will be hanging them in the kid's room. It was a wonderful evening. Went to bed with smiles on our faces and a sense of peace knowing that we have helped orphans who have not found their forever family yet.

Then Sunday came, my first Mother's Day. This day meant so much to me. My sweet, sweet husband understood that and made it a big day for me. He woke up with the kiddos and let me sleep in a little. I was greeted by Alec and Haven with flowers and a card. And in that card was a gift certificate for a spa day. AHHHH I can feel the massage now:)))
After church we worked in the yard and played with the kids. Just enjoying being together as a family. My sister and her family came over for dinner, Thai (I didn't have to cook on Mom's day:) ).
Such a wonderful weekend and it was hard to see it end. But as the day did wind down, my head was filled with thoughts of my children's first Moms. Does Haven's Mom go to bed at night wondering about her life in the US? Does she worry that she is warm, fed, and loved? Does Alec's Mom know he is alive? Loved? Thriving? I am so thankful and humbled by how our children came to be our family.

Pictures from the wedding

Haven playing with rose petals before the ceremony.

Alec looking so handsome in his outfit waiting for the ceremony to start.

Haven with cousin Dan. Cindy and Dan where my heroes. They kept Haven entertained the whole night so I just had to chase after Alec.

Haven and Alec fell asleep on me on the bus ride to the wedding. They fell asleep on the ride back, but we didn't look this cute:)
