Zoo Trip

Today was such a perfect spring day. We went to the zoo for a goal party for my work. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather. It was sunny and the high 70s. The animals were out and all the magnolia trees are blooming. One of the our Drs, is a plant nut too so we were looking at all the flowers/trees/shrubs as well as the animals. It was so nice that almost everyone came and came with their children. A good time had by all!

One of my receptionist has 5 children, they are really sweet, nice children. We all stopped and had snow cones and her little boy said to me, this is even better than the train, because the train ride isn't sweet:)

Enjoy some of the pictures I took. My favorite is the giraffe pictures he was definitely hamming it up for the cameras.

Peonies

Hi my name is Becky and I'm a peony addict. I love this time of the year! Watching the peonies grow and anticipating their blooming. One of my favorite clients started me on this addiction. She gave me 2 of her peonies and I went to her home and all I could see was peonies every where. They were in bloom, trees and shrubs and I was immediately in love with this flower.
Since then I have collected both trees and shrubs and I am always on the hunt for new ones.
Last year we re-landscaped our yard and I finally got to plant all my plants that had been living in pots for two years. 33 of them.
They are loving their new digs and I can't wait to see them in bloom. Hope this pretty weather holds to speed up the flowers.
Enjoy this beautiful weather, it always make me feel so much better to see the beautiful sun!

1 year later

1 year later. Yes 1 year later and we are still waiting. Our paperwork has been in Ethiopia since November 18th. I never dreamed we would still be waiting for our referrals. When we started this process, most people that we met that had gone through adopting from Ethiopia told us it was about 1 year, from application to travel for them. Well not for us. Things seem to be just getting longer in the process. There are some families that we have met that are using the same agency that were in the classes with us and have gotten there referrals, been through court and getting ready to travel. I don't know if ours is slower, because we are asking for two children.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason. One couple who just got their referral a few weeks ago was told by our agency it would be 2-3 months before they travel....not what you expect to hear. When we started the process, I had such high hopes of having our children home before my birthday in May and Naing's birthday in June. Guess that is not meant to be.
Now I'm starting to wonder if we will have a referral and pass court before the court closes in the late summer/early fall. When you start thinking about it, that really isn't that far away.

Sun, Beautiful Sun

Sunday, Tomorrow, it is suppose to be 70 degrees. YEAH!!! I plan to spend the whole day in the yard, weeding and planting lilies. If the weather would cooperate I could spend every day outside in the yard and garden, digging in the dirt. I hope for a warm, drier spring so I can do just that and keep myself from thinking about our long wait. 5 1/2 months now. We are going to have the most weed free yard in our cul-de-sac while we are waiting for our referrals. :) Everyone knows once the kiddos come we won't have much time for that.
