1 year later. Yes 1 year later and we are still waiting. Our paperwork has been in Ethiopia since November 18th. I never dreamed we would still be waiting for our referrals. When we started this process, most people that we met that had gone through adopting from Ethiopia told us it was about 1 year, from application to travel for them. Well not for us. Things seem to be just getting longer in the process. There are some families that we have met that are using the same agency that were in the classes with us and have gotten there referrals, been through court and getting ready to travel. I don't know if ours is slower, because we are asking for two children.
There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason. One couple who just got their referral a few weeks ago was told by our agency it would be 2-3 months before they travel....not what you expect to hear. When we started the process, I had such high hopes of having our children home before my birthday in May and Naing's birthday in June. Guess that is not meant to be.
Now I'm starting to wonder if we will have a referral and pass court before the court closes in the late summer/early fall. When you start thinking about it, that really isn't that far away.

Sun, Beautiful Sun
Sunday, Tomorrow, it is suppose to be 70 degrees. YEAH!!! I plan to spend the whole day in the yard, weeding and planting lilies. If the weather would cooperate I could spend every day outside in the yard and garden, digging in the dirt. I hope for a warm, drier spring so I can do just that and keep myself from thinking about our long wait. 5 1/2 months now. We are going to have the most weed free yard in our cul-de-sac while we are waiting for our referrals. :) Everyone knows once the kiddos come we won't have much time for that.

130 days
130 days and counting. UGH!!!!! I thought our referral would be here by now and we would be planning our trip. We are now 11 months into this adoption and no end in site. The hardest thing for me is no information. If our agency would just tell me where we are in the process, who has our information, then I would know something is happening. No information feels like nothing is happening.

Daffodils and Spring
Our daffodils are starting to open. I so love this time of year when everything is budding about to start flowering and the birds start singing more. The anticipation of spring.
I love to garden and the winter is so hard to get through because I can't be working in the garden. Each Feb. I go to the garden and patio show with my best friend. We make a day of it and search for that new plant we want to add to the garden. It gets me excited for the start of planting and all the beautiful flowers to come this year. I have plants that will flower from Feb-Oct planted so bring on the flowers! I'm ready to weed and plant. Woo Who bring on Spring!
We redid our whole yard last summer so I can't wait to see it in bloom this year and enjoy all our hard labor, or should I say Naing's hard labor.

Thanks
Thank you to everyone who helped me through the bad week. I'm doing better now. Naing and I have been very busy, painting, cleaning and nesting around the house. Naing's sister is coming for a short visit tomorrow. She lives in Germany and has been in Canada visiting his family. She is spending a few days with us before she flies back to Germany.
Tomorrow I am picking her up in Seattle and driving back home. It should be interesting since I have never met her, only spoken on the phone to her a couple of times.
She should come visit more often, our house is so clean and Naing did most of it!!
It should be fun, I love all his other siblings. I just hope it doesn't rain every day she is in Oregon.
